Hmm... reminds me of a quote I recently read that went something like this: "You can learn from failure not from uncertainty"... or some such thing. Funny how considering the unpleasantness of uncertainty we can occupy it for very long periods because of a fear of failure.

Good points Steve. Indecision is an opportunity cost. It also comes back to naming your fears, and addressing them one by one. Being poorly understood, these fears can seem a lot larger than they actually are. "Better to make mistakes from ambition, than from sloth." etc
And, definitely, part of what makes an optimal decision is the balance between the least amount of time/effort and finding the best alternative.

An interesting take on decisions. I found that the quicker I make decisions to the better off I am because indecision has a compound effect on anything creating problems. It's not the course of action which is the problem but the inability to act. Having the guts to do it, is the hardest part. Having the guts to make mistakes. I think it's largely about reprogramming ourselves that mistakes are Ok so long as they wont kill us.
